When it comes to social media, people always think that the more followers you have, means the more sales you are getting.

Guess what?

Followers aren’t the be all and end all when it comes to social media and business.

You can have 10,000 followers and STILL have zero sales.

You might have 100 followers but getting 100’s of sales every week!!

The two generally go hand in hand and together you will find a happy medium and notice that when your followers increase at a steady pace, so will your sales!

I’ve put together a few tips that will help you grow your Instagram account and therefore you should see an increase in your sales too!

1) Show Up Regularly
Consistency is the key to all success. This includes Instagram whether it be on the grid, stories or on IGTV.

You need to let your followers get to know you, get to know your routine and know when to expect new content from you.

2) Deliver Quality Content
If your gut is telling you what you’re about to post isn’t right – don’t post it.

Focus on producing quality content that tells everyone exactly who you are and what your business is about.

3) Focus on Save-able and Shareable Content
Make sure your content is useful to others and something they want to revert to at a later date or share with others or tag people in.

Perhaps share something that’s trending or seasonal? But keep it on brand!

4) Reach out to people on Instagram
Networking with other users on Instagram is an easy way to help increase your audience.

By simply following businesses that are in a similar category to your business (i.e. health, gifts, personalised items or photography/videography) or following businesses within your local area could result in you becoming a suggested account for their followers to follow.

Get engaging and commenting on peoples posts. Be genuine and make a comment that shows you’re taking the time to engage. Make sure your comments are five words or more so you don’t come across spammy also!

5) Utilise Hashtags
This is such an easy way to attract an audience, users of Instagram don’t only follow other users but they also follow hashtags. Using hashtags on a post will enable you to reach out to a huge amount of users.

You can use hashtags tailored to your location or if there is a specific location in mind. It’s perfect when you’re wanting to target a place for your specific product or service.

Try not to use a hashtag that is so popular you get drowned out by all the noise. You can find out how popular a hashtag is by searching for it in the explorer search bar.

Instagram also then suggests similar hashtags that may target a more specific audience for you.

6) Use your geotags
Marking a location helps get your content seen. You can reach an audience that you otherwise might not have reached as geotags can also be followed on Instagram.

Also, try switching up locations to areas around you within a certain mile radius. If you’re available across the country, why not try to attract people on the other side of the country?

Social media really is all about trial and error. You need to find what works for your business but also what your followers and target audience responds to!
