There are many reasons why Pinterest can help your business become more successful and why people flock to the website/app. There are a few of them listed below:
• It is aesthetically pleasing – I mean pretty houses, stunning holidays, delicious foods etc The best of the best is on Pinterest but it’s not off-putting like Instagram… it’s completely less toxic!
• It is the place to go for inspiration. So whether you’re looking for a new piece of jewellery, decor or garden inspiration, Pinterest is the place to go.
• You can create as many boards as you like and about whatever you like! I mean…. what more do you want???
• As mentioned above, Pinterest is a toxic-free zone. They go out of their way to ban diet ads, support mental health and monitor for any incorrect information being shared regarding Covid etc. I mean – how great is that?
When it comes to Pinterest, there are many analytics you need to watch to ensure your account grows, but essentially, they all depend on what your platform goal is.
• Do you want website traffic?
• Brand awareness?
• Email subscribers?
BUT…
If you’re wanting to know how people engage with your content, the best way to track it is by monitoring the about of Saves your Pins get.
Users save Pins because they want to refer back to them at a later date. Whether that be in a week, a month or even a few months later (pregnant ladies hello!) The users who save your Pins are indicating a real interest – these are warm leads… keep creating similar content and you might just get a conversion! When people save your content, similar to other engagement – this indicates that you’re creating content that’s of interest and Pinterest will share your content to other users with similar interests!
The question now is… how do you get your Pins seen? How can you keep creating saveable content? How can this help to grow your account? I mean, it’s all good knowing how the platform works and what a decent looking Pin should look like, but how do you get eyes on your work?
When a Pin is seen by a user, that person can choose to engage with it in many different ways.
• Saves
• Clicks
• Comments
• Reactions.
Use the standard tips of getting seen ie posting consistently, using keywords and using your analytics strategically.
• In your Pin description, use a call to action that tells them to save your Pin, or even ask them to leave a comment or add a take? Encouraging an interaction is one of the first steps in building engagement on your account.
• Don’t forget to use trends to your advantage though as that is another sure fire way to gain saves!
As with other platforms, once the Pin is engaged with, Pinterest uses this information to determine if it should be shared further throughout the platform. Unlike other platforms, there aren’t any time frames to hack an increase in engagement (hello 10 minutes window on Instagram)
Just remember that Pinterest is a long game and whilst your Pin may not get hits immediately, it doesn’t mean that it won’t do further down the line.
