It doesn’t matter what you do or how long you have been doing it, there are certain apps that make running your business so much easier and make it look that much slicker and more professional, even for the most uncreative person (I can’t draw a stickman without looking like a child!)
I thought I would list my top 5 apps that, I personally, think every business should be utilising.
In no particular order:
1) Canva
My first tip would be to invest in the paid version, if you don’t believe me, there is always the free month to prove me right!
Canva get your creative juices flowing, even for those of us that are stick figure professionals, and has a range of different tools you can use to make your images unique to your business. It is very easy to use with their premade templates or a blank canvas for each social media platform. It also gives you the ability to animate, add logos or your own images but also gives you the option to choose from a wide range of images and stock photos within the app itself.
2) Trello
The queen (or king) of organisation. Whether you work within a team or on your own, Trello will be the ap you didn’t know you needed in your life. It gives you the option of setting up a weekly schedule, set up a list for each task or create a conveyor belt for a task journey. What makes Trello that much more is the ability to add other users to the board, so you all have an overview of the week to come without having to actually communicate or set up a meeting about a meeting – we have all been there!
Like most apps, it allows you to add personality with colour labels which can be named to your liking, change the background, set deadlines and allocate a task to a specific individual.

3) Notes
Also known as a Mac user’s dream, who doesn’t have that rush of ideas when you don’t have a pen handy or trying to be eco-friendly so don’t have a pen and paper anyway? Notes is right there when you need it for those life changing thoughts and having the airdrop function just makes it seamless for thinking on the go.
4) Over
This app is perfect for Instagram stories with a range of templates and premade content, it makes your page look fresh and professional. Again, you don’t have to be a creative genius to make this work for you as they have several guides and a demo on how to make to most of Over.
5) WhatsApp
I’m sure everyone by now has heard of WhatsApp as a mobile phone app but have you loaded it onto your desktop? If you haven’t already, do it! It makes it seamless, allowing you to continue discussions with clients and staff without having your phone glued to your hand.
You can also set up a broadcast list which sends the same message to a range of people and their responses will come back to you separately, unlike in a group chat. However, if you are setting up group chats, you also have the option to set these so that only the admin can send messages. This could be useful if you have products you would like to share or updates that need to go out but don’t need a response.
As you can imagine, it was really tricky selecting my top 5 as there are so many useful apps out there for each individual and business.
